The Spokane Alliance is designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(4) social action organization and is thereby free to advocate and lobby on a wide range of important local, state and regional issues. The price of this freedom, however, it that donations to the Spokane Alliance are not tax deductible.
The Justice Alliance Education Fund, on the other hand, is designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. Its activities include supporting the charitable leadership training, research and education work of the Spokane Alliance. Donations to the Justice Alliance Education Fund are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by the law.
Neither the Spokane Alliance nor the Justice Alliance support or oppose candidates for public office.
