8AM – 10AM Pacific Time This is a six-session training on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (12 hours total training) |
We will open the zoom room 15 minutes early to allow everyone time to get settled. And we start and end on time! |
Cost: Free for Spokane Alliance member organizations. (Please note your member organization below.) $50 for participants not from Spokane Alliance member organizations (to be applied to future membership dues). We have many scholarships available and do not want cost to a barrier. Please email Katie about this option. |
This training is also open to people who are part of our sister organization in the IAF NW. (If you're part of another organization, please note it below.) The training will be capped at 50 people. Once we reach that cap, you'll be placed on a waitlist. |

This training provides content based on the philosophy and practices developed by the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in 80 years of organizing experience. The topics include:
- Why organize? – Examine the history, traditions, and values of our labor, faith, community and educational organizations.
- Fundamental organizing skills – Learn tools to conduct individual relational meetings, listening sessions, research, negotiations and action to help obtain a concrete, winnable outcome.
- Strengthening our institutions – Engage people systematically in a culture that is relational, action-oriented and reflective.
- Problems vs. issues – Focus from general problems to concrete, winnable issues by using relational power in the public arena to negotiate for the common good.
