On Saturday, October 4th, community members from across North Idaho are invited to a “Taste Of” Broad-Based Community Organizing, led by Laurel Fish, Senior Organizer with the Spokane Alliance.
Join us to explore the model of broad-based organizing—where ordinary people come together, build power, and shape the decisions that impact their communities—winning real, concrete change.
This introductory session offers a practical overview and is designed for anyone curious about how organizing works. Together we’ll dig into questions like:
-
What makes organizing different from service or protest?
-
What is the role of civic institutions in this moment?
-
How can institutions systematically engage people in a culture that is relational, action-oriented, and reflective?
-
How do we turn overwhelming problems into concrete, winnable issues?
