Send a Thank You to Spokane City Council

On April 28th, 255 members of the Spokane Alliance and 25 kids from 17 member institutions were successful in getting commitments from the City of Spokane and City of Spokane Valley to allocate a total of $4.5 M towards Childcare Stabilization of American Rescue Act Plan funds!

We have been working for 2 years to build our power around Childcare, talking to over 150 of our members about the crisis, and we want to see $10 M of ARPA be allocated towards stabilizing childcare, specifically:

1. Subsidies for middle-class, working families

2. Support for the workforce

3. Mental Health support for kids/staff

City of Spokane

Councilmember's Wilkerson and Zappone initially worked with us to increase the allocation from $1M to $3M, and Councilmember Cathcart committed to increasing that number to $3.5 M after he heard the stories and impact of this severe crisis at our action!

Title: Thank you for investing in Childcare

Dear Spokane City Councilmembers,

Thank you for voting to allocate a total of $3.5M towards stabilizing the childcare industry and investing in our families. Your leadership on this issue is critical. Our families and our essential workforce need support from the community after struggling for two years during the pandemic. I hope to see these funds go to:

1. Subsidies for middle-class, working families

2. Support for the workforce

3. Mental Health support for kids/staff

Sincerely,

YOUR NAME

City of Spokane Valley

Councilmember Hattenburg, on behalf of himself and Mayor Haley, committed to working to allocate $500,000 M towards childcare stabilization, and another half million towards mental health for early learning in Spokane Valley.
